Kent's superiority over Sussex appears to be in their batting, rather than their bowling - or is this too simplistic?

Kent's superiority over Sussex appears to be in their batting, rather than their bowling - or is this too simplistic? It's rather difficult to tell, because our batting is so inept We bat down a long way but we are banking on one or more players from arguably four to hit a ton. Against Durham, it all worked fine, but we desperately need at least one more solid batsman so that the risk of the top 5 being out for 200 or less is significantly diminished. Until that happens, it will be a bumpy ride.

Two steps forward, three steps back. edit: It really is a painful time to be a Sussex supporter. How can a team behave in such a schizophrenic way? After first trouncing Durham with a brilliant batting display, a few days later they then offer an abysmal batting performance on a placid 400 run wicket while falling apart against a 41 year-old journeyman offering medium pace dibbly dobblies from a six yard run-up. I don't understand.

What a piss poor batting performance. Why is Jordan batting at 7? What an abysmal performance by Kolpakshire. He should be batting at 10.

It's a funny old game. If you're not a Sussex supporter!

I don't understand. It is worth recalling that this poor 41 year old journeyman took 5-51 in an innings at Hove, and 6-47 again in an innings against Derbys, with his dibbly dobblies earlier this season. Maybe he is simply a good bowler.

Sussex have never done well against dibbly dobbly bowling.

AS, Paul Edwards write-up of today's play for Cricinfo agrees with my sentiment. He refers to Stevens as "The Vicar of Dibbly-Dobbly." Actually his review is full of rich and enjoyable imagery. I like his opening line: "Darren Stevens rumbles to the wicket like a taxi-driver bilked of a good fare and in warm pursuit of the miscreant." Well worth a read. Meanwhile, I do agree that Stevens "dibbly-dobbly" has more of a dashing Popemobile flare than a vicar's insipid cucumber sandwich. www.espncricinfo.com/county-cricket-2017/content/story/1099735.html

Maybe you can be a good bowler by bowling dibbly dobblies!

Dawn French could probably bowl this load of muppets out! We need to get rid of the losing "family" mentality and start producing some winning cricketers. Stop molly coddling the players! We need a coach more like Alex Ferguson who isn't afraid to throws tea cups rather than an Arsene Wenger. The players have been too well rewarded for successive years of failure. I see no hunger or desire in this team and as soon as things start to get difficult they just give up.
