In theory it shouldn't be too hard for us to bat a session. But never play cricket to the weather forecast. It tends to make fools of us all. Also, Kent will come flying out knowing about the forecast. And with no need to defend runs, it'll be full cordon, catchers round the bat, anything that ups the wicket taking chances. Isn't that contradictory?

Isn't that contradictory? Not really. wishibowledfaster is recommending that you never play cricket to the weather forecast, but he thinks that Kent will ignore this advice and come flying out knowing about the forecast. However, I am not sure they will literally come flying out; that would be strange.

As someone who makes a living trading the percentages/possibilities of cricket results i always find it extraordinary that cricketers don't take more notice of weather forecasts. Ok they can be inaccurate but sometimes the chances of them being right are so strong that you just have to factor it into the equation. Teams have so many analysts nowadays it's staggering that there isn't some input into declaration decisions etc based on weather prospects.Obviously the relevance you give decreases the more long range you are looking but but when games reach the latter stages and short term forecasts are more accurate it just has to be added to the equation. I would never consider having a bet one way or the other without taking weather into account.

Of course, any rain will kill off any chance we have of winning.

We may have to make do without too much help from the weather after all...

Burgess out. Can we get 300? Well batted Burgess, and Philander and Wiese. Not particularly concerned what score we get so long as everyone bats with concentration and lives up to their talent.

Could they end getting the highest score of the match?

If the top three had scored a modest total between them of say 60 and this was the first innings replying to Kent's 369, it might have been a decent game of cricket. If, if, if, if.......
Burgess, Wiese, Archer and Philander are performing miles better than Finch, who is averaging about 8 this season. We can't leave him there to open on Friday, can we?

I don't see why Van Zyl doesn't open as he has done so for South Africa. Wright and Van Zyl need to step up rather than taking the easy option of batting at 4 and 5.
